The historical linkage between Printers and Publishing means that the two sectors are often considered as one. But Print and Publishing are different with contrasting business models, capital, property requirement and skills. Deficiency of knowledge in legal framework and in purchase and/or sales of right is also a hindrance for Mauritian Publishers in the exporting the services of a publisher in the international market. It is important to note that publishing remains the single biggest client for the Printing sector, therefore any intervention in the Publishing sector is deemed to impact the Printing sector.
The workshop will address the following areas :
(i) Compliance to international publishing standards
(ii) Legal framework in Copyright
(iii) Technicalities of a Publisher’s contract
The target audience are :
Members of Association des Editeurs Mauricien (AEM),13 members
Independent Publishers and Authors
Printers involved in Publishing.
