The following is a summary of primary areas of focus and key projects planned to June 2006 :

Deploy Enterprise Development Fund as from 1st December 2005
This co-funding programme is aimed at providing companies and groups of businesses access to specialist assistance that will allow them to build their internal capability and expand internationally. The projects supported under this co-funding programme will be based on needs identified through an assessment process and will be aligned to an overall development plan for the business participant.

Finalise Textile & Apparel Service offering and support structure and resources to deliver these - by end Jan 2006
A review of the services available from the Enterprise Mauritius Textile & Apparel Development Centre (formally CTC) is under way. The range of consulting, training, and outsourcing services will be enhanced and better aligned to current client needs and priorities.

Organise Mauritius For Africa fair - 1st week of June 2006
As part of a broader regional trade development strategy, this fair aims to increase awareness and trade opportunities to buyers in the African region. A wide range of Mauritian made products and services will be exhibited and the fair will be promoted extensively in the region with emphasis on SADC and COMESA participants

Finalise the Mauritius Trading House project to provide capacity for regional market penetration - February 2005
To facilitate trade growth in the region, a project is currently under way to investigate potential models for establishing Mauritian Trade houses in high potential targeted countries such as South Africa and Kenya

Develop Tourism "Buy Mauritius" Strategy including:
An integrated strategy is being developed that aims to:

Enterprise Mauritius plans to organise a one day forum to review The State of the Textile and Apparel Sector and develop a Way Forward for Sustainable Development - January 2006
One specific outcome of the forum will be to establish a permanent Textile and Apparel Sector Development Task Force to follow up on the seminar, monitor all international and national trends concerning the sector, and provide strategic guidance for the sustainability of the sector

Organise a Light Engineering Sector Forum back to back with the ESIPP-SADC sector meet in Mauritius - February 2006
Enterprise Mauritius will be hosting a national sector forum to compliment and leverage the ESIPP-SADC regional Light Engineering sector meet to be hosted in Mauritius - February 2006

Engage in Sector Dialogue with non textile industrial and service sect
Engagement with numerous non textile industry sectors including jewellery, agro & fisheries, light manufacturing, boat building, and professional service providers has commenced. Strategies for developing these and other potential sources of export growth will be advanced.

Develop National Services Sector Strategy - April 2006
A National Services Strategy project is being advanced that aims to provide a comprehensive plan for developing long term exportable services which will provide growth and diversification opportunities for the Mauritian economy.

Follow up work for Italy Textile Mission engaged
A comprehensive follow up programme has been developed in collaboration with BOI and the Ministry of Industry to ensure maximum benefit is gained from the Textile Mission to Italy carried out in November

Leveraging of various Donor Funding Programmes
There are numerous opportunities to better leverage the wide range of donor funding programmes available to Mauritius. Enterprise Mauritius is developing a comprehensive understanding of these options and aims to enhance relationships with the associated providers to ensure maximum benefit can be gained from them

Encouraging an Outsourcing Culture
A programme to encourage an outsourcing culture will be developed and deployed by June 2006

Re-launch eMarketplace
The eMarketplace web based marketing and eCommerce platform has been reviewed and is scheduled to be re-launched to local suppliers beginning December 2005. An international awareness and promotional campaign is planned to commence in Feb 2006.

Encouraging an Enterprising Culture
A programme of activity is planned that will high light local business success stories and profile world-class Mauritian companies. This is aimed at motivating industry and encouraging others to pursue entrepreneurial business opportunities
