Welcome Note
It is with immense pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to the delegates of this 2008 Annual Conference of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation in Mauritius.
We all know of the reputation achieved by the ITMF as an international association for the global textile industry. It is indeed a laudable event that we are having the opportunity in Mauritius to discuss the current state of the global textile industry and the challenges and opportunities in the future. It is highly gratifying that this conference also offers a platform to the industrialists to network and clinch business deals.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Challenges for a Greener and More Sustainable Textile Industry”. I consider that the theme is highly opportune as we need to promote the long term sustainability of the textile sector on the basis of factors related to Greener production.
I have no doubt therefore that this Conference will serve as a unique platform, through the different sessions, to shed light on pressing and fundamental issues such as Retailing, Greener and Sustainable Products, Fabrics for life, Sustainable Production and Development, Geopolitical Risks and Global Textile Machinery Market Situation.
I wish the delegates that they find in Mauritius a stimulating and relaxed atmosphere for their discussions and I wish all delegates a fruitful experience.
